Pat Toomey for United States Senate

One of the truly rewarding aspects of the career I have pursued for the past thirty years is that I am able to pick and chose the causes and candidates I want to promote.   In 2004, I had the privilege of being selected as the direct mail fundraiser for the Rep. Pat Toomey’s campaign for the Republican nomination for the United States Senate from Pennsylvania. The Richard Norman Company helped raise millions of dollars  that year but unfortunately, President George W. Bush and Senator Rick Santorum endorsed Arlen Specter and campaigned for him confusing many conservative Republicans into thinking that Specter was acceptable. Specter, as a four-term incumbent in the majority party, had boatloads of money from special interests and he was able win by less than one vote per precinct!

This year, Pat Toomey again decided that Pennsylvania and America have had way too much of Arlen Specter and he once again announced that he was challenging Specter for the GOP nomination. Before Pat had even announced, Specter ran $100,000 of negative TV ads against Toomey as if to “fire a shot across the bow” in a warning of things to come. But the Quinnipiac University and the Rassmussen Polls both showed Specter trailing Toomey badly among likely GOP primary voters and Specter, in an act of sheer political preservation, switched parties giving Barak Obama the sixtieth vote he needs in the U.S. Senate.

I am thrilled that Pat has asked me to serve as his Senior Finance Consultant overseeing direct marketing on his 2010 campaign. In this capacity, I will oversee direct mail, telemarketing and online fundraising for his campaign. My goal is to make sure that no candidate, Democrat or Republican, raises more money than Pat to get his message out to the voters of Pennsylvania. We will cover the country with appeals for help from conservatives everywhere because we believe that the United States has suffered far too long with Arlen Specter in the Senate. It is an honor for me to serve in this capacity and for The Richard Norman Company to play a pivotal role in making this campaign a success.
